Ryan Overton DC, In His Own Words
“I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995. During the next few months after graduation, I noticed that I was experiencing pain from a car accident that happened when I was seventeen. I had a good friend in chiropractic school who literally dragged me in to see his chiropractor. This was a strange event considering my mom was a nurse and she had told me, “We don’t go to chiropractors”. What the chiropractor told me did make sense and I agreed to start care. I remember after the first couple of adjustments saying, “wow I forgot what normal was like”. I realized that I was just putting up with the pain and considering it normal.
Now this phenomenon was great but what really won me over to become a chiropractor myself was the change in my health. I had suffered with sinus problems for 10+ years. Six months after the beginning of my care, I remembered that I was not taking my medication anymore. I had begged five different doctors if there was anything I could do for my suffering. However, each time I was told that I was just one of those people and needed to continue with my medication. I remember asking my mom, “Why is it that more people do not know about this?”. She did not have an answer. I also had a lot of digestion problems which were improving. With improvement in my health I made changes to my diet and started taking supplements which eventually cured my irritable bowel and colitis issues. The epiphany was when I realized that you could get your health back and I decided that I wanted to help others achieve this.”
